In a significant move to revolutionize urban transportation, Namma Yatri, renowned for its auto rickshaw services, has now ventured into the realm of cab rides in Bengaluru through its open-mobility app. Leveraging the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), the platform adopts a commission-free model, wherein drivers are charged a subscription fee instead of a percentage of ride earnings.
The expansion of Namma Yatri’s services marks a strategic shift aimed at not only boosting driver earnings but also enhancing vehicle maintenance standards and improving customer satisfaction levels. By embracing transparency and community collaboration, Namma Yatri operates within the ONDC network, providing open data and open-source code, while also adhering to the latest pricing guidelines set by the Karnataka government.
The cab services offered by Namma Yatri encompass a diverse range of options, including non-AC mini cabs, AC mini cabs, sedan cabs, and XL cabs (SUVs). Of particular significance is the introduction of non-AC mini cabs, aimed at addressing customer-driver misunderstandings regarding AC usage, while also offering competitive rates for budget-conscious travelers and promoting environmentally friendly transportation practices.
Additionally, the app aims to cater to various special requests, such as disability-friendly rides, extra luggage accommodations, pet-friendly trips, and journeys to public transport hubs, thereby ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all commuters.
Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy commended Namma Yatri’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and inclusivity, emphasizing the app’s role in shaping the future of urban mobility in the state.
In a bold move, Namma Yatri has announced its ambitious plan to onboard over one lakh cab drivers within the next six months, with the current roster already comprising 25,000 drivers. The company, which currently operates cab services in Kochi and Kolkata, has garnered widespread support from both drivers and commuters alike.
Magizhan Selvan, CEO of Namma Yatri, highlighted the platform’s transformative approach to addressing mobility challenges, emphasizing its dedication to empowering drivers through cutting-edge technology while ensuring customer satisfaction. With a focus on driver wellness programs, safety initiatives, and exemplary service standards, Namma Yatri is poised to redefine the cab-hailing experience in Bengaluru and beyond.
