YouTube Music has taken a step towards enhancing the user experience by providing official support for Apple HomePod. This integration offers a convenient way for Premium and Music Premium subscribers to play music using voice commands.
Deeper Integration
While the ability to play music from YouTube Music on Apple HomePod has been available for some time, the YouTube Music product team has now announced a more seamless integration, especially with voice commands. Premium and Music Premium subscribers can set up YouTube Music as a playback service on their HomePod, enabling voice commands like “Hey Siri, play music on YouTube Music.”
How to Set Up Integration
To enable this integration, you need to be a Premium or Music Premium subscriber. Download the latest YouTube Music app and navigate to Settings > Connected Apps > Connect with HomePod. If YouTube Music is your preferred streaming service, you can also set it as the default for your HomePod. This can be done through the Home app on your iOS device. Go to Settings, tap on your username, select Default Service, and choose YouTube Music. Once set up, you can use simple voice commands like “Hey Siri, play music” without specifying “on YouTube Music.”
