The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially unveiled the registration dates for individuals interested in undertaking the Haj pilgrimage in 2024.
According to Awqaf, the registration window will be open from December 5 to December 21, allowing pilgrims to sign up for the holy journey. It is highly recommended that individuals book their slots in advance, considering the limited quota available.
The UAE government traditionally issues Haj permits exclusively to Emiratis, while expatriates are required to adhere to the allocation and procedures established by their respective home countries.
The Haj pilgrimage to Makkah is a sacred religious obligation for Muslims who possess the physical and financial means to fulfill it. Every capable Muslim is expected to undertake this pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.
Haj 2024 is scheduled to commence in mid-June. In the year 2023, the pilgrimage to Makkah witnessed a significant turnout, with over 1.8 million worshippers participating, marking the highest number since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
