Delhi’s air quality dipped further on Thursday, prompting the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to impose GRAP Stage Three. This means that all diesel-powered light commercial vehicles and trucks are banned from entering Delhi.
The ban is in effect in addition to the Stage I and II actions that were already in place. These include a ban on BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers, a complete halt on construction and demolition work, and a ban on the burning of biomass.
The CAQM said that the ban on diesel-powered light commercial vehicles and trucks is necessary to prevent further deterioration of air quality. The ban will be in place until the air quality improves.
