In a significant development, the police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old Dalit girl in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on October 2 in a village within the Baria police station area.
The accused individuals, Salik Singh (20) and Deepak Yadav (22), both residents of the same village as the survivor, were identified and implicated based on a complaint filed by the girl’s father. An FIR was registered against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences), and the SC/ST Act (Prevention of Atrocities).
While Deepak Yadav has been arrested and subsequently sent to jail, Salik Singh is currently at large. Police are actively pursuing efforts to locate and apprehend him.
