In the latest episode of Loki Season 2, fans witnessed a significant shift in the portrayal of two pivotal characters: Kang and Ravonna Renslayer. This retcon brings them closer to their comic book counterparts, promising exciting developments.

In Loki Season 1, Ravonna Renslayer was introduced as a TVA judge and Mobius’ close friend. Kang, on the other hand, was depicted as The One Who Remains. But Season 2 reshapes their narratives, aligning them more with their comic book personas.

The first episode of Loki Season 2 revealed the Temporal Loom, Loki’s newfound time-travel ability within the TVA, and Renslayer’s involvement in the Multiversal War, a concept previously hinted at in Phase 4 of the MCU.

One of the most intriguing twists involves Renslayer. In Loki Season 1’s conclusion, she left the TVA in search of “free will,” seemingly unaware of the Multiversal War. However, Season 2 unveils a recording from the past, indicating that she not only knew about the war but played a significant role in it, as Kang’s statement suggests.

Kang’s incriminating words, “Ravonna Renslayer, you are quite a marvel. I will be proud to lead with you. You made a difference in this war. Thank you for being on my team,” hint at a deeper connection between Renslayer and Kang. This revelation aligns her character more closely with her Marvel Comics counterpart.

In the comics, Ravonna Renslayer is a princess romantically linked to Kang. Their complex relationship involved conquering kingdoms and encountering the Avengers. Loki’s Season 2 direction suggests that Renslayer will become an integral part of the MCU, possibly serving as a love interest for Kang and joining him in potential conflicts with the Avengers.

Moreover, Renslayer’s comic book origins are intertwined with the Victor Timely variant of Kang, who is confirmed to appear in Loki Season 2. This ensures Renslayer’s continued presence in the season, whether as a formidable villain or a character grappling with her past.
