Shah Rukh Khan’s second film of the year, Jawan, has taken the box office by storm on its opening day. The film, directed by Atlee and co-starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, is expected to earn Rs 125 crore on day 1. Jawan presents Shah Rukh Khan in a never-seen-before avatar of a former soldier who leads a team of six skilled women in a series of heists and also faces his long-lost son, an honest police officer.

Jawan breaks records in advance booking
Jawan has created history even before its worldwide release on September 7 as the film has already sold more than 4 lakh tickets in India in national chains which is only second to Pathaan in Hindi films. If advance sales are anything to go by, Jawan has already earned over Rs 27 crore in India and Rs 37 crores gross globally. The film has also taken the fifth spot in top advance booking of all time in national chains. The film is releasing in standard, IMAX, 4DX and other premium formats, coinciding with Janmashtami.

Meanwhile, the advance booking response in the international markets for the movie is also sensational as it has so far sold tickets worth $1.56 million (13 crores). North America is leading the international pre-sales with $600K so far, followed by GCC with $450K, and the UK with $225K. The overall overseas advance booking of the movie is expected to be around $3 million for the opening day and around 60 crores worldwide.

Jawan rumoured to feature special cameos by South superstars
Jawan is also likely to feature special cameos by South superstars Thalapathy Vijay and Allu Arjun of Pushpa fame. Rumours of Vijay’s cameo first sparked when Atlee shared a photo from his birthday bash wherein he posed with SRK and Vijay. There are also rumours that Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt will be seen in the movie. However, the makers have not confirmed or denied these speculations yet.
Jawan is produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment and distributed by Yash Raj Films internationally. The film also stars Deepika Padukone in a special appearance, Priyamani, Sunil Grover, Riddhi Dogra, Sanya Malhotra and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya in supporting roles. The film is Atlee’s first Hindi film and Shah Rukh Khan’s second release this year after Pathaan.
