Rajinikanth’s Jailer Nears Rs 600 Crore Worldwide
Jailer’s success is not limited to Tamil Nadu alone. According to the latest reports, Jailer has collected a whopping Rs 558 crore worldwide in 19 days of its theatrical run. The film has crossed Rs 321 crore net in India in 19 days, making it the second highest-grossing Tamil film of all time after Rajinikanth’s own sci-fi blockbuster 2.0. Jailer has also performed exceptionally well in the overseas markets, especially in the USA, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. The film is targeting Rs 600 crore milestone next, as it continues to attract crowds in theatres, however is expected to face stiff competition from upcoming Jawan.
Rajinikanth’s Jailer To Face Competition From Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan
Jailer’s dream run at the box office may face some challenges in the coming days, as Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited action drama Jawan is slated to release on September 7. Jawan, directed by Atlee, also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. The film is expected to create a huge buzz among the fans of Bollywood & Kollywood and give a tough fight to Jailer in the multiplexes.
While Jailer nears the end of its run at the box office, Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2 continues to perform well. The film has already made more than Rs 460 crore domestically, and is still second to Pathaan’s all-time record as the biggest Bollywood film of all time. But with Shah Rukh Khan’s first pan-India film, Jawan, set to release on September 7, Gadar 2 can too expect to lose a lot of its screens and eventually slow down at box office, making it hard to cross Pathaan.
Jailer is undoubtedly one of the biggest hits of Rajinikanth’s career and one of the most successful films of Indian cinema. The film has proved once again that Rajinikanth is the undisputed king of the box office and that his popularity and charisma are unmatched.
