The Powerball jackpot has reached an astonishing $1.73 billion following another drawing with no lucky winner. Participants failed to match the six winning numbers, extending the streak of consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner to 35.
The winning numbers for the draw were 16, 34, 46, 55, 67, along with a red Powerball number of 14. The Power Play multiplier for this draw was 3x.
This ongoing streak of winless drawings has trailed behind the record of 41 draws set in 2021 and 2022. The most substantial Powerball jackpot ever recorded was a staggering $2.04 billion, which was won by a player in California in November 2022.
The lack of Powerball jackpot winners can be attributed to the remarkably daunting odds of winning, calculated at a staggering 1 in 292.2 million.
The $1.73 billion jackpot prize is designated for a single winner who will receive payments through an annuity, distributed over 30 years. However, most jackpot winners tend to opt for the cash payout, which for the upcoming draw on Wednesday night is estimated to be a substantial $756.6 million.
It’s important to note that federal taxes will be deducted from the winnings, and in some states, additional taxes may apply to substantial lottery prizes.
