  • Shah Rukh Khan landed into a major controversy; following his comment on ‘extreme intolerance’ in India at an event. The issue resulted in several protests against him and his then released film “Dilwale.” However, the actor, later cleared that his words were misconstrued and he got into trouble. The actor insisted that he had never said that India was intolerant. He further clarified that when asked to comment on it, he had refused to do so but when he was insisted upon, he commented that the youth should concentrate on making India a secular and progressive country.

  • On 12 November 2022, the Customs Department detained him at Mumbai International Airport for several hours due to certain luxury watches he was carrying after arriving from Dubai at around 12:30 am. Later, Shah Rukh Khan and his manager Pooja Dadlani were allowed to go home, but his bodyguard Ravi Singh was detained with his luggage. Acording to customs officials, some luxurious watches including empty covers of luxurious watches were found from the actor’s luggage for which customs duty was not paid, and his bodyguard was let go after the customs duty was paid.
  • On 26 April 2023, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Indore in Madhya Pradesh issued an order against Shah Rukh Khan and a Byju staffer for alleged “fraudulent behaviour” and “unfair trade practice” after an IAS aspirant named Priyanka Dixit filed a complaint against them; Priyanka enrolled at a Byju coaching centre to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. The commission ordered them to return Rs 1.08 lakh in fees deposited by complainant Priyanka Dixit at the time of admission in 2021 along with 12 per cent annual interest. The commission also ordered them to give her Rs 5,000 as litigation cost and Rs 50,000 as compensation for financial and mental agony. According to the commission’s order, the local manager of Byju and Shah Rukh Khan must pay the amount “jointly or severally” to Dixit. According to Dixit, she joined Byju’s as she was influenced by an advertisement featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
