Realme has announced a Rs. 100 crore investment in developing quad-curved display technology for its smartphones. This move, highlighted alongside the upcoming Realme 14 Pro series, aims to revolutionize smartphone display innovation and deliver enhanced user experiences.
Realme, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has unveiled a strategic Rs. 100 crore investment plan to advance quad-curved display technology for its global smartphone lineup. Announcing this major initiative, Chase Xu, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Realme, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing revolutionary technology to its users.
“With our investment in quad-curved display technology, we are poised to redefine the visual and interactive experiences our smartphones offer, setting new industry standards for innovation and design,” said Xu during the announcement.
This significant investment aligns with Realme’s focus on innovation, exemplified by the forthcoming Realme 14 Pro 5G series. These devices are set to feature ultra-slim bezels of just 1.6mm on all sides and boast a remarkable screen-to-body ratio of 93.8%. The advanced display technology promises premium visual experiences, strengthening Realme's foothold in the competitive smartphone market.
Realme’s Collaboration with Dixon Technologies
The company’s announcement builds on its recent partnership with Indian electronics manufacturing firm Dixon Technologies. The partnership, revealed in April 2024, involves Dixon assembling display models for Realme with a capital expenditure of approximately $30 million (roughly Rs. 255 crore). This collaboration is set to produce about 4.5 lakh units by May 2024, signaling Realme's intent to streamline its manufacturing processes and bolster its production capabilities.
Colour-Changing Technology in Realme 14 Pro Series
Adding to its portfolio of innovations, Realme has introduced a unique cold-sensitive colour-changing technology in its Realme 14 Pro 5G series. The back panel of these smartphones shifts from Pearl White to Vibrant Blue when exposed to temperatures below 16°C. This design innovation, co-created with Nordic industrial design studio Valeur Designers, merges functionality with aesthetics, promising a standout feature in the competitive market.
Realme’s Rs. 100 crore investment in quad-curved display technology and its focus on collaborative innovations reflect its commitment to setting new benchmarks in the smartphone industry. With cutting-edge designs like the Realme 14 Pro series and advanced manufacturing partnerships, Realme continues to redefine user experiences, signaling a bold future for smartphone technology.
